Faster Freight – Cleaner Air's anchor event, FFCA California, took place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA March 23-25, 2009. Bringing you the latest developments in goods movement and air quality, the three-day event featured general sessions covering hot topics on meeting the climate change challenge, technologies and strategies to promote efficiency and air quality and successful industry case studies; breakout sessions covering goods movement tracks; a tradeshow; and off-site tours of the San Pedro Bay Ports.

Foss Maritime’s Hybrid Tug
Industry analysts and environmental officials alike have praised Foss Maritime’s low-emission Hybrid Tug because it reduces nitrogen oxide, particulate emissions, sulfur dioxide and carbon emissions and will exceed the EPA’s Tier 2 emissions requirement for marine engines.  The ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles recently honored Foss Maritime, calling its innovative approach to reducing air pollution in southern California an outstanding example of corporate leadership.  See the newest in hybrid technologies aboard this recently launched hybrid tug that operates as a regular work boat while consuming less fuel and generating less pollution by using batteries for all of the vessel’s low-power needs.  

Tour of Clean Energy’s World’s Largest LNG Station
Participants took a tour of the soon to be opened, state of the art, Clean Energy LNG Fuel Station, spanning 2.9 acres.  Located conveniently at the ports, the station was built to respond to the Ports’ Clean Truck Program vehicles and serve vehicles traveling throughout California and Arizona.
